DRUGS, ALCOHOL BREED SADNESS

Legalizing Pot

RE: 'Senators would legalize pot' (Sept. 5) and 'Corner stores selling
booze' (Sept. 6).

I guess those who have the power to legalize marijuana or allow corner
stores to sell alcohol don't know -- or think -- about addiction, or the
sadness and the tragedy that drugs and alcohol can bring about in a family.

I can't believe that, in just over four years, my grandson -- if the Senate
committee has its way -- could legally use marijuana.

I've experienced and witnessed enough to say how sad this whole thing is.
Life is very precious. As taxpayers, we should have a say in something that
can seriously affect many lives.

Maybe the government should survey all those crowded in our jails and ask
if they were using drugs or alcohol when committing their crimes.

I truly believe this comes down to one thing -- making money. Sad.
