CONSTITUTION PUTS SCHOOL K9S IN DOG HOUSE

Just say NO! to drug dogs in our schools and use our valuable tax dollars
for honest and real education about drug use and abuse.

Letter writer Aimee Otis seems mystified as to complaints about drug dogs
and unwarranted searches of persons and property. She believes that if you
aren't using drugs, 'you have nothing to worry about'.

May I assume that Ms. Otis would therefore endorse the police coming to
everyone's home and submitting every homeowner and business owner to a drug
dog search?

She might be shocked to know that our Constitution applies to ALL searches
by police, not just those which may pertain to certain activities. While
certain influential groups may have deceived the public into thinking that
such tactics are warranted in dealing with the very real problems of drug
use by minors, our young people can see easily enough through the farce
that is the War On (some) Drugs. They see the drug dog come in the front
door of the school while the Ritalin truck unloads at the back door.

Those of us who don't use illegal drugs do indeed have something to hide.
It's called our privacy from police intrusion without a justified and
probable cause of our commiting a crime.

Just say NO! to drug dogs in our schools and use our valuable tax dollars
for honest and real education about drug use and abuse. We need to educate,
not incarcerate our children.
