USE OF 'CLUB DRUGS' ON RISE IN ROWAN?

While the letter to the editor in which the writer downplays the dangers of
raves seems innocuous, the sad fact is that club drug use relating to
rave-type activity is on the rise in Rowan County.

In addition, there is a large underground segment of our younger population
that dismisses these dangers as power plays by paid government officials
seeking to enhance their budgets. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to
believe this sort of baloney and ignore the dangers.

I hope our group (the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, or ASAP)
will be able to spend some time addressing this growing danger. In the
interim, I hope the Post will be alert to crime news and other harmful
activity that is ultimately difficult for the rave scene to ignore.

I have information here (at
www.tommyjones.org/drugviewpoint/overalloutline.htm) Kids Partying) on
Charlotte's efforts to combat dance clubs. It could be of help.
