MORALLY WRONG

The strange thing about the marijuana debate is that no one has yet said
that smoking pot may be just morally wrong in that it encourages teenagers
and others to escape from the realities of the world - to escape from the
benefits and responsibilities of being a Canadian.

I would rather see my teenagers discussing politics, music, economics,
religion or social or personal problems at parties rather than be awash in
happy dizziness.

I would rather see them discuss moral attitudes and develop a knowledge of
right and wrong than let their thoughts go up in smoke.

They must develop a sense of duty and responsibility for themselves and
others. You can't do that while high on drugs.

(Except the choice at parties isn't usually between pot and a discussion of
religion and politics)
