MARIJUANA FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES NEEDS SUPPORT

Editor: In these rapidly changing times, with all the dangers that face our
children, we are constantly enacting new drug laws to provide our law
enforcement officials with the tools necessary to secure our communities
and protect our youth.

While no one wants to see a child fall prey to drugs, we all too often
completely overlook the rights and medical needs of a vast number of
Americans who are being denied the medication necessary to live a normal
healthy and productive life.

In Wisconsin law, there are provisions for those who fall prey to
addiction, but none for those who find it necessary to use medications not
yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Although this oversight
is receiving a great deal of attention, the wheels of justice turn slowly.

There is currently some very important health care legislation being
discussed in Congress, and your support is needed. Write a letter to your
congressman asking him to support H.R. 2592, the States' Rights to Medical
Marijuana Act.

Until the time comes when medical needs are properly addressed through
legislation, we can send a clear message to our legal representatives when
called to jury duty that we will not support convictions of people using
marijuana for legitimate medical purposes.
