BLAGOJEVICH'S DRUG COMMENTS INSULTING

Dear Editor,

It's often the case that when people seem like idiots, it's only because 
they have a low estimation of our intelligence and are comporting 
themselves accordingly. So it is with the recent assertion by Democratic 
gubernatorial candidate Rod Blagojevich that he doesn't know enough about 
cannabis to say whether he ever inhaled it or not. To add to the insult, he 
followed up with the long-discredited notion that cannabis leads to harder 
drugs.

If he's really as ignorant about cannabis as he would have us believe, he 
had better brush up on the subject because reefer madness is costing 
Illinois a bundle.

I didn't expect any profiles in courage this election year.  I look forward 
to the day when politicians are less afraid to talk about sensible drug 
policies than they presently are about their own youthful drug use. That 
would be a profile in leadership.
