STUDENT SHOWED COURAGE

I cannot agree more with The News-Journal's comments in its Sept. 26 
editorial "Behind czarist 'truths.' " I find it especially significant that 
student Gabe Clifton of Flagler-Palm Coast High School found the courage to 
make a stand for free speech and the importance of alternative ideas when 
faced with overwhelming disapproval of some of his own peers and of an 
absolutist drug czar who thinks nothing of arresting cancer, AIDS and 
multiple sclerosis patients and anyone else who dares to find some relief 
in a natural herbal substance such as cannabis. As long as we have young 
people like this, our country will be in good hands.
