If there is a moral or a civics lesson to be taught in the police raids on high schools, it can only be that the state has the means of harassing, intimidating and crushing the citizen who falls into its disfavour. Drug education is best left to pharmacologists in a free society. The police have no expertise in anything other than policing. The criminal model of drug control sure looks an awful lot like a model of moral rather than medical hygiene. Now, is that progress from when Thomas Jefferson separated church and state, or what? The Calgary police might just as well be wearing white robes with a great big red cross. Chris Buors Winnipeg, Man. - --- MAP posted-by: Beth
