MARIJUANA COLUMN ON TRACK

Editor, The Auburn Plainsman:

Major kudos to Karen Johnson for her outstanding column:"Canada's doing it,
so why can't we?"

The reason the United States has not re-legalized marijuana is because of
the people, institutions and industries who benefit financially from the
prohibition of marijuana.

If marijuana were re-legalized, we would not need nearly as many jails,
prisons, prison guards nor law enforcement personnel. These people,
institutions and industries will do anything and everything in their power
to make sure marijuana is never re-legalized.

Until we can solve this problem, our jails and prisons will continue to
expand: and our personal freedom will continue to shrink.
