NO NEWS ON DOG KILLING

A long overdue internal police investigation into the shooting of a
dog during a drug raid in October will be released close to Christmas.

London police Const. Paul Martin said he expects the report will be
released in another couple of weeks.

"The investigation is almost complete and the report should be in the
deputy chief's hands soon," he said.

Martin could not say what was causing the report's
delay.

Police started their internal review Oct. 24, a day after officers
broke down Marcie Carroll's apartment door and shot her dog, Bear. At
that time, police Chief Brian Collins said the report should be
released within two weeks.

Since then between 35 and 40 people have been interviewed by
police.

News of the report's delay surprised Carroll's lawyer, Faisal Joseph,
who was told by police it would be released soon.

"I would have expected, since I've been told it's any day now, police
would call me and tell me (about the delay) as a courtesy," he said.
"I'm sure it's just a coincidence that in two weeks time it's going to
be Christmas . . . but I'll give the police the benefit of the doubt
and would appreciate them keeping me as apprised as they're keeping
the media."

Last week, Joseph said, police asked to re-interview Carroll because
they had new questions.

At that meeting, Joseph presented police with further information
about the case, he said.
