WORTHY OF PARDONS

To the Editor:

Re "A Presidential Power This President Uses Rarely" (news article, Dec. 
25): The depth of President Bush's compassionate conservatism can be seen 
by the petty crimes he pardons - and all of people no longer in prison.

If Mr. Bush needs help finding people worthy of pardons, he need look no 
further than the effects of America's draconian drug laws. Many thousands 
of people are serving horrendous prison terms for the most minimal 
involvement in drug crimes.
