ADMINISTRATION WRONG ON MARIJUANA

I AM writing to you today to talk about how unfair the DEA was on Tuesday,
Feb. 12. It is wrong to go after people that use marijuana for medical
purposes and the people and clubs that help them and supply them with their
medicine.

These people need this medicine to help their medical situation. These are
people with cancer, glaucoma, who are HIV/AIDS-positive, who have cachexia,
severe pain, severe nausea, seizures including those characteristic of
epilepsy, or persistent muscle spasms including those characteristic of
multiple sclerosis.

These are people that have legal and official medical prescriptions under
Proposition 215 passed by California voters in 1996. The marijuana clubs
that supply their patients with their medicine make sure all prescriptions
and papers are legal. They do not sell marijuana to people on the street.

President Bush has said he wants to increase the fight against marijuana
because it supports and gives money to terrorists. This is untrue in medical
marijuana. Medicinal marijuana does not pass through terrorist hands; it
goes from the growers to the patients and clubs directly.

It is my belief that President Bush is using the Sept. 11 tragedy and the
war on terrorism to take away freedoms and hurt people who have medical
needs.

I have supported President Bush in the war on terrorism, but when you
terrorize Americans who need their medicine, that's wrong.
