CLOSE TO HOME

Isn't it very interesting that Gov. Jeb Bush now wants to restore
earlier cuts in probation and drug treatment programs for first-time
nonviolent offenders?

Why is it that many laws are put in place only after the politician's
personal lives or the lives of the rich and famous are affected?

It is sad to say that many people suffer injustices because they are
not in the limelight. Certainly it is not because the issues are not
known, it is just that it has not touched home yet for the people who
can provide help and make changes.

If Gov. Bush's daughter had not been caught in this drug situation,
would he be considering making changes in the present probation and
drug treatment programs? I think not.
