POLICE DOG'S DEATH: PUBLIC HELP SOUGHT IN CASE

ANACONDA -- No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting Feb.
22 of an Anaconda police dog trained to search for illegal drugs.

Police hope leads from alert citizens will help the investigation. Anyone
with tips or other information is urged to call the Anaconda police
department at 563-5241.

The carcass of the 4-year-old black Labrador was found near Opportunity
along Interstate 90, in an area used illegally to dump garbage.

The dog disappeared Friday from the Opportunity residence of her handler,
officer Kent Reisenauer. The dead animal was discovered 1 1/2 miles away
that afternoon by a resident out for a walk. The dog had been shot in the head.
