ECONOMICS OF HEROIN

To the Editor:

Re "U.S. Fears a Glut of Heroin From a Volatile Afghanistan" (front page, 
April 1):

The United States should rejoice that our own market ideology of supply and 
demand so strongly resonates with Afghan farmers. Our response should be 
obvious: cut heroin demand.
