DODGE COUNTY SHERIFF RECEIVES MONETARY AWARD STEMMING FROM DRUG INVESTIGATION

It gives new meaning to the phrase "giving back."

On March 26, Dodge County Sheriff Stephen Fitzgerald was given a check in
the amount of $7,502 as the result of a plea agreement from a suspect
involved in a marijuana trafficking investigation in the Beaver Dam area,
with the source of the marijuana being in Madison.

The suspect forfeited $10,000 in total in an effort not to lose his residence.

Sheriff Fitzgerald sees the program as a very effective tool to help fund
further drug crime investigations. The money will be used to purchase
equipment for the Sheriff's Department and to help continue financing
further drug investigations.

"Public support is one of the strongest tools we have," Fitzgerald said.

If a private citizen witnesses what they believe to be suspicious activity,
he encourages them to call either the Dodge County Crime Line at
920-386-3728, or the State of Wisconsin Drug Tip Line at 1-800-622-3784.
All calls can remain completely anonomous.
