HE STILL DOESN'T GET IT

Dear Editor:

Re If I had a second chance, May 3

What a crock.

Jade Bell had chances galore, overdose after overdose, until his luck ran
out - and yet he STILL doesn't get it.

The prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. showed conclusively that whenever a
drug is banned, MORE users die or suffer deleterious consequences than if
the drug had remained legally available. Jade is confined to a wheelchair
for one reason and one reason only, the drugs he ingested were banned by
law; yet he continues peddle the ineffective 'just say no' approach to
drugs when he should be lambasting the government for what it did to him
and for causing the deaths of many, many others, including my 19-year-old son.
