STUDENT CONCERNED ABOUT DRUG CENTER PLAN

As a student and a big sister, I take my job seriously, that's why I was
shocked to read that there was a maximum drug and alcohol center going in
near our school.

There are many children under the age of ten that walk to and from school,
many without older brothers and sisters to show them what to do. I, my two
little brothers and my cousin, along with many other students walk up
Squirrel Creek Road and up the path near Cedar Avenue. My concern is for
the students of Lyman Gilmore, Scotten and the new day care across the
street. What if one of these drug and alcohol people get out and want to
wreak havoc? The first major place is our school. I cannot believe that the
school district has not had an opinion on this matter. Don't they care
about their students' safety? Furthermore I don't want to have to worry
about my friends and little brothers when I'm not around. I mean most of
these people are going to be men and there won't be anything for children
our size to do. There are many parents concerned, how can they be sure that
their children are safe.

I hope in light of a student's concern that there will be steps taken by
all parents, and school officials to protect the children of Nevada County.
