DOPE CASE AXED

Fury of MS Victim in Cannabis Battle

CANNABIS campaigner Biz Ivol was furious last night after the criminal
case against her was dropped.

Multiple sclerosis victim Biz said she wanted to go to court to
highlight her battle to have the drug legalised.

She said: "I'm really angry the case is being dropped because I wanted
to fight it all the way.

"I have been fighting since 1996 to get cannabis legalised but this
will now be swept under the carpet. Like me, it's going to die a death."

Biz went on trial last month accused of making cannabis-laced
chocolates for other MS victims.

But the Crown Office announced yesterday they were dropping the
case.

Biz said her lawyer had written to her, saying she was not well enough
to attend court.

Last night, the 56-year-old repeated the suicide threat she made
during the trial.

She said: "I'm still going to kill myself and it will be soon, very
soon. My suicide has been planned for a very long time and it will
still be going ahead."

Wheelchair-bound Biz was arrested two years ago over allegations she
was supplying cannabis to MS sufferers across Britain.

Biz, of Herston, South Ronaldsay, denied three charges involving the
possession, production and supply of the drug.

Her trial was held at a sports centre in Kirkwall, Orkney, because it
had better wheelchair access than the local court.

Last night, a Crown Office source confirmed they were not proceeding
with the case.
