POT LAWS UNFAIR

I'm writing regarding "It's time to ease nation's laws on marijuana" (July
29). It's past time.

Most everyone knows someone who smokes or has smoked pot. By now, everyone
should know they are not the criminals they have been made out to be. The
vast majority of cannabis consumers are peaceful people who don't deserve
to be placed in prison cells with violent criminals.

The Canadian Senate Special Committee on Illegal Drugs found scientific
evidence overwhelmingly indicated that marijuana was less harmful than
alcohol. So, making a criminal of a person over pot would be a stretch from
making a criminal of a person over martinis. This is unfair, unjust and
just what we have been doing.
