HIGH LIFE IN CHESTERMERE

A Chestermere home-invasion yesterday led Strathmore RCMP to their third
pot-growing operation bust in four days.

Three people entered a home on Lakemere Dr., after shooting out the patio
door and wounding one of the five people inside.

The three bandits, two of whom wore masks, left after stealing money, said
Strathmore RCMP S.Sgt. Glenn De Goeij.

Calgary police became involved when the injured man arrived at Peter
Lougheed Hospital with a bullet wound in his buttocks.

An RCMP investigation led to the discovery of the grow operation -- the
third in Chestermere since Friday.

"This was not a random act," said De Goeij. "The residence was targeted and
the attack was linked to the drug trade," he said.

A 20-year-old resident, whose name has not been released, is in custody and
facing drug charges.

The investigation into the home-invasion is ongoing, said De Goeij, who's
asking anyone who may have information in the case to call Strathmore RCMP
at 934-3535.
