PAINTSVILLE CITY COPS ARE CLEAN

Results from a drug test given to officers of the Paintsville Police
Department last Thursday were released to Chief Larry Vanhoose Monday, and
each test came back negative for drug use. Vanhoose said that he knew
everyone in the department was "clean", he just wanted the public to know.
"I had faith in my department," he said. An executive order requiring
random drug testing of the city's police officers was recently signed by
Mayor Doug Pugh. According to the order, any officer refusing to submit to
random drug testing will have their employment with the City of Paintsville
terminated immediately. In a previous interview, Vanhoose told the Herald
that every other police department in the area already had a drug testing
policy in effect and that the implementation of the policy at the
Paintsville Police Department "should have been done a long time ago." On
Tuesday morning, Vanhoose said that everything at the department is running
smooth "and is going to get better."
