Now former-former deputy jailer Adrienne D. Yorns, 24, is charged with trafficking in marijuana, first-degree promoting contraband and first-degree official misconduct. She is accused of selling marijuana to an inmate. Yorns was arrested at 5 a.m. while on duty, following an all-night surveillance by jail staff and Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force detectives. Jailer Jackie Strode said Yorns was hired part-time on May 13, 2002, and worked full time when she was arrested. "This type of thing has happened before, one other time, I believe," Strode said. "There are drugs in every jail, but it's not an overwhelming problem." Strode said if drugs get in one time, it's a problem - and there isn't really a way to keep drugs out unless the inmates are on lock down. "There are no extra precautions that will be taken at this time," Strode said. Task force Director Tommy Loving also said he would like to think that it's an isolated incident. But "it's not uncommon to have drugs smuggled into any jail," Loving said. Loving said this is the first time in recent memory that an employee was caught selling to an inmate. Authorities recovered five grams of marijuana when Yorns was arrested. Following a search of her residence, another 43 grams of marijuana were seized. Yorns is being held without bond in the jail. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Stevens
