HISTORY SHOWS MARIJUANA STILL SAFER THAN ASPIRIN

Marijuana and aspirin should be compared, contrary to a recent letter
(Let's not compare aspirin with drug like marijuana, July 26). Pot is
less dangerous than aspirin

It is true that aspirin can be a safe and effective medicine. However,
more than 7,000 deaths each year are attributed to it. On the other
hand, marijuana consumption does not kill.

Marijuana, formally known as cannabis, has no known lethal
dose.

It has been used medicinally without ill effect since 2737 BC. (See
www.marijuanainfo.org.)

The Drug Enforcement Agency's own legislative judge, Francis L. Young,
concluded, "Marijuana has been shown to be one of the safest
therapeutically active substances known to man."
