Junek MARIJUANA IS HARMFUL Editor, the Advocate: It is a lie that marijuana will not hurt you. The smoke from one marijuana cigarette can harm the lungs as much as smoking 16 tobacco cigarettes. THC or Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol stays in your body for weeks, even from just one joint, and while there it changes your ability to think clearly, listen or speak. It makes you feel dull and flat. It is bad for both boys and girls. In girls, some of the chemicals are absorbed into the fatty tissue, including the reproductive system. Boys using it for a long time can have lower male hormones and weak sperm and can also delay muscle development. And it is addictive. The above was taken from a folder by the National Foundation, 2750 Lake View Ave., Chicago, Ill. 60614. Copies can be obtained by anyone on request by writing to that address. Or you can write to COSA, 744 Henderson Road, Angleton, Texas 77515 or call 1-800-386-0931 or fax (979) 848-8236. We need to stop drug abuse. WILLIE O. JUNEK Palacios - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
