OFFICER BUSTS 19 LAST MONTH

There's "look inside cars machines" and drug dogs to assist police in
finding hidden drugs, but sheriff's commander Robert Young still leads in
numbers of drug arrests.

He had 19 in August.

He made the 19th Saturday night when he arrested a driver for possession of
a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The officer also found
the Weatherford man had seven outstanding warrants.

Sheriff's captain Jerry East said Young has a talent for seeing driver's
actions and items that lead him to search and find drugs.

*Captain East said city and county officers placed 43 individuals in the
Hood County jail during the three-day holiday.

Persons were jailed for drugs, driving while intoxicated, warrants,
disorderly conduct and other misdemeanor charges.

In August, 47 people were arrested and jailed for outstanding warrants,
East said.
