Ellen Margaret Polwart, 32, called police to her property south of Whangarei on October 12 after her house had been trashed and burgled. Police prosecutor Sergeant Mike Moohan told Whangarei District Court last week that as police examined the house they discovered equipment set up in a bedroom being used to grow cannabis. Polwart pleaded guilty before Judge Semi Epati to cultivating cannabis and was convicted and fined $500. She told police two cannabis plants she had been growing had been stolen in the burglary. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
