BANKEROHAN IS CITY'S ILLEGAL DRUG CENTER

BANKEROHAN is still the most affected barangay in Davao City in terms of
proliferation of illegal drugs.

Edgardo Aglipay, deputy director general for administration of the
Philippine National Police, said intelligence reports indicate selling of
illegal drugs, such as shabu and marijuana, has remained rampant in this
area.

Other than Bankerohan, Aglipay said there are also some barangays in the
City that have yet to be cleared of illegal drugs even though the City
Government has stepped up drive against illegal drugs for the past months.

The police has tapped the cooperation of all barangays in its nationwide
campaign against illegal drugs.

As part of its intensified campaign, Aglipay visited Davao City on Wednesday
and met with barangay officials here to seek their cooperation in the
anti-illegal drug campaign.

Aglipay said he will be doing the rounds soon on various barangays in the
City to see if officials are implementing the anti-drug campaign.

Chief Supt. Isidro Lapena, police regional director, revealed they have
earlier identified about 13 groups responsible for the proliferation of
illegal drugs in the region.

He said that of these groups, at least 10 of which have already been
"neutralized."
