24/7? NOT UNTIL CITY LOOSENS RESTRICTIONS

In response to "Our advice? Snap out of it!" (March 24 Viewpoint):

Neal Peirce and Curtis Johnson must go to bed early, if they think that
Charlotte is achieving a "24/7 urban atmosphere" and that "the rolled-up
sidewalks we saw in 1995... are disappearing."

Just this weekend my out-of-town clients were asking what we could do next
- -- the time was 2 a.m. Saturday. Bars and clubs were closing their doors.
The only nightlife available after 2:30 a.m. anywhere in Charlotte is at a
Waffle House, a Steak & Shake or a convenience store.

Until City Council repeals or revises the anti-rave ordinance, Charlotte
will continue to lose significant revenue, as well as human, intellectual
and creative capital. This problem affects everyone from downtown property
and business interests to taxi and limousine owners.

How about it, Mr. Mayor? Can you take a stand?
