Drug Testing

RIGHTS VIOLATED ON DAILY BASIS

Re: The May 20 Our View, "Say no to suspicionless drug tests."

You stated in your editorial that Marshfield civics teaches one thing while
the school practices another. That may be true, but in the real world this
violation of our rights is practiced on a daily basis.

Try applying for a job. Drug tests are automatic along with random tests
for many occupations on a regular basis. The rule of thumb in our society
today is guilty until proven innocent. We let those rights be legislated
away a long time ago by self-serving special interest groups and people who
think the cost of freedom is too high.

It's a good lesson for Marshfield students. They might as well learn now
what is preached and what is practiced are two totally different things.
