KIDS KNOW ABOUT DRUGS

Oshawa, Ont. -- The federal government will spend $240-million informing
Canadians of the dangers of marijuana (Ottawa Set To Preach Evils Of Pot --
May 27).

I'm a retired high-school teacher. For many years, there has been a sincere
commitment in the nation's schools to teach the dangers of substance abuse.
My colleagues who taught in the secondary and elementary sectors taught the
dangers of drug use for their entire careers. To my certain knowledge, the
teachers who replaced us continue the practice. The federal government will
not solve the drug problem by throwing money at it.
