I agree with Camp's response that there are many violent criminals on our streets today. No, maybe your neighbors don't smoke marijuana or do cocaine, but what about that person who mugged your friend or that house that was broken into? Why do you think these criminals do this? It's because they have spent every dime they have getting high, and the only way they can find that next high is by mugging your friends or breaking into your house and trading it for their next high. When officers bust the drug users and drug dealers, most of the time they are able to solve those crimes. We have killed two birds with one stone. We have taken the drug dealer off the road and solved cases. If we are to win the war on drugs, we must face the problem head-on with an aggressive attitude. For a person to want to stop using drugs, he must first want to help himself. Sometimes the only way we can help this person is by the aggressive attitude and putting him in rehab and getting him on the right path. By chiseling at the wall one stone at a time we can win the battle. Todd Weaver Carthage - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Stevens
