Viewed at: http://www.summitdaily.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20030617/LETTER/306170403 MORE POT SHOTS ABOUT USE OF MARIJUANA I'd like to point out that letter-writer Stan White never mentioned the use of marijuana for medical purposes, so my response had nothing to do with using it for medicinal purposes, although the chemical in marijuana that has supposedly eased the pain of people suffering from diseases such as glaucoma is THC, and is available in pill form, without having to break any laws. Since Stan never mentioned the medical aspect of smoking pot, I figured he's a supporter of NORML, an organization that believes marijuana use should be regulated like alcohol. But unlike marijuana, I've never seen a study that showed that 85 percent of hard drug users went from drinking a beer or two to shooting heroin or smoking crack or crank. My (and your) constitutional and civil rights are not being reduced one iota because pot is illegal. He calls pot a "god-given medicinal herb." Please, spare me the religious lesson, ye of little faith. Just about every illegal and legal drug starts out as some kind of plant created by nature. Your argument is pathetic and fallacious.
