GOVERNMENT, NOT GROWERS, THE PROBLEM

To the editor:

The article on the medical marijuana grower vs. his landlord highlights more
of the problems caused by cannabis prohibition ("Medical marijuana a
potential headache for landlords," June 15).

The courts are stating that the government's inertia in providing legal
medi-pot makes the laws against its prohibition unconstitutional. When
cannabis is wholly integrated into our society, following relegalization,
sick people will be able to buy, or the Medicare system will provide,
inexpensive legal cannabis for their health needs. Then there will be no
home grows for medical use, because, quite frankly, they are too much
trouble, especially for the sick. The real problem here is not the grower,
but the federal government, which is so intractable regarding all things
cannabis.
