JAIL NO DETERRENT

Editor, The Bulletin;

Re: "Jail As Deterrent"

Regarding the comment, "One thing seems clear: growers and dealers will
spend a long time in jail."

What people need to know about this is that it has been done this way in
America for years and now they have States who can't afford to keep it up
so they are now thinking of releasing these so called 'criminals' long
before their time is served... this is the ultimate hypocrisy as not only
were these dealers or growers replaced immediately due to the unwavering
demand for marijuana by both recreational users and medicinal users, but
the extended sentences in jail time has been proven just a drain on tax
dollars.

So for all you prohibitionists fooling yourself into thinking its great
that this government is getting tough on dealers, it's going to cost you a
bundle somewhere else... Health care, Education, services!!???.... and
don't kid yourself thinking it'll come from the fines collected either.
Australia has been fining and convictions doubled not for marijuana
possession but for unpaid fines.
