POLICE OFFICER'S JOB IS EASY ONLY IN A POLICE STATE

Re: Two Vancouver police officers sentenced to house arrest, Jan. 6

I am appalled at the amount of compassion and sympathy the people of
Vancouver have been giving to the six police officers involved in the
Stanley Park beatings. If we can't trust our own police force to obey
the laws of our country, then whom can we trust?

How can anyone buy the officers' plea that what they did was a
momentary lapse of judgment? This was a calculated, premeditated and
brutal attack; how else could they account for taking the victims
across the city into Stanley Park to do their dirty work?

If these officers think their jobs are too tough, they ought to be in
a different profession. A police officer's job is easy only in a
police state. It is better to let a drug dealer go free than to see
police officers abuse their power.
