CHOCOLATE-COVERED MARIJUANA AMONG RACINE COUNTY BUSTS

Arrests Include Driver With Pot Pipe; Passenger Who Claims Backpack Fetish

If you were driving around last weekend with chocolate-covered
marijuana in the back seat, a pot pipe in your lap or a passenger
holding an open can of beer, chances were pretty good that you would
run into the cops.

According to criminal complaints filed this week in Racine County Circuit
Court:

- - Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday in what is known as Chocolate City,
Burlington police pulled over a northbound car that was traveling the
wrong way on N. Pine St. near E. Chestnut St.

After arresting the driver on suspicion of operating while under the
influence, officers searched the car and found behind the driver's
seat "two very large bags full of what appeared to be chocolate candy."

They broke open one of the chocolates and found "whitish-greenish
pieces" inside it. Further searching turned up some 200 pieces of candy.

Tests confirmed that the chocolates contained marijuana. But the find
was too big for the Police Department's scales, so the candy was taken
to the Wal-Mart grocery counter, where it weighed in at nearly 81/2
pounds.

The owner of the car, of Sturgeon Bay, was found carrying $4,268. He was
charged with drug offenses that together carry a maximum prison term of 16
years.
