ANOTHER VIEWPOINT

Sir:

In response to the letter from Clarence Tifenbach in the July 9 Record, I
say: Do some research before you write such garbage. If you would just take
a look at the facts, to be found at the Web sites www.drugwarfacts.org or
www.drugwardistortions.org , or read the excellent book Marijuana Myths,
Marijuana Facts by Lynn Zimmer, Ph.D and John P. Morgan, M.D., you would
find out that every one of your arguments for retaining prohibition is
incorrect.

Virtually every study shows that driving on pot is not like driving drunk.
In fact, lightly stoned drivers actually drive better than sober drivers.
There is no link between pot and cancer. In fact, there are cancer-fighting
properties in cannabis. Nobody commits crimes to get pot and any violence
between drug dealers is the result of prohibition, not pot. I could go on
and on demonstrating your lack of understanding.

My father said, "Better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak
and remove all doubt." Please follow his advice.
