In his letter, Owen praised Lerner's story on the negative effects of marijuana, which ran in the November issue of Tiger Tracks. The story recommended using the "Mfiles" Web site (www.mfiles.org), maintained by Owen's office as a reference on the subject. Mfiles is designed to increase community and student awareness of the dangers of drug abuse. In his letter to Lerner, Owen told the Tiger Tracks co-editor, "It is great to hear from young people like you who have compassion for their peers. Articles such as yours are instrumental in communicating the harsh realities of substance abuse. I am confident your work will help not only your peers, but their families and friends as well." Lerner is a junior at SHS and serves as co-editor of the SHS Literary Magazine in addition to her post at Tiger Tracks.
