4 COPS IN MISSING SHABU WON'T TAKE POLYGRAPH TEST

CEBU CITY -The four Region 7 Maritime Group (Marig) policemen who were
tagged responsible for the disapearance of two kilos of "shabu"
refused yesterday to submit themselves to a polygraph
examination.

Lawyer Delon Urot said his clients Senior Inspector Roger Mangaoang,
P03 Florito Banilad, P02 Eric Henry de Luna and P01 Napoleon Taneo -
will take the lie detector test only if the suspected drug courier,
Willy Solon, will execute a sworn statement on his accusations against
the policemen.

Urot told the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that it would
be unfair to his clients to take the test "when no mention was ever
made regarding Police Superintendent Sales Zaragoza to be included in
the polygraph test." Zaragoza is the head of the Region 7 Marig.

Urot said that although his four clients agreed to take a lie detector
test when they met with Congressman Cuenco last Saturday, this
"should not be taken, in any way, as a waiver on their part to
question the admissibility of the result of the test and its
conclusiveness."

PDEA is investigating the four policemen after Solon claimed he
carried four packs of shabu when he was nabbed but the operatives
reported confiscating only two packs from him.
