POT PAYS

Re: PM Won't Support Premiers' Drug Plan, Aug. 13.

Paul Martin says that pharmacare would be too costly. If the Prime
Minister needs money for a national drug plan (and health care,
daycare, the military, etc.), why not just legalize, regulate and tax
cannabis? People are doing it anyway, and the billions that would be
generated annually could help pay for these things.

It's not as though all the money spent trying to enforce prohibition
has actually accomplished anything. So why not give it up, take
billions of dollars away from organized crime, and put it into
Canadians' medicine cabinets?
