CRACK KITS A WISE MOVE

Re: Katie Chalmers' Tax-paid crack kit (Aug 26).

I am 100% in favour of these kits.

If people are engaging in potentially dangerous activities and we have
a way of encouraging them to practise safer methods while bringing
down the number of infected people in our city, why shouldn't we?
People don't seem to have a problem with condoms being distributed
(which allows for safer sex) so why is this so different?

In Harry Lehotsky's perfect world, we could get people to stop doing
crack and put them in rehab. If he has a plan to accomplish this, I
would be more than happy to hear it (as would the WRHA, I assume).

For right now, however, the WRHA is off to a good start in helping and
educating people.

My hat goes off to the WRHA.

(The danger is in condoning the activity.)
