OPP SEIZE THOUSANDS OF MARIJUANA PLANTS

A seizure in Peterborough County may have netted Ontario
Provincial Police millions of dollars in marijuana plants.

Several officers from the OPP's Drug Enforcement Section were
investigating Thursday what they called a "significantly large"
outdoor grow found in a concealed area of the county.

Thousands of plants were seized.

Const. Ted Schendera of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP said the
potential value of the seizure lies in the "millions of dollars," with
each plant worth about $1,000.

He said the seizure resulted from police executing a search warrant.
The investigation, he added, was continuing into Thursday evening.

Further details, such as the location of the operation, were not
available from the OPP at press time.
