COPS SUSPECT DRUGS IN TRIO'S 'NONSENSICAL' ATTACK ON MAN

Three men who police believe were high on drugs attacked a man in an act of
"nonsensical violence" as he stood in his driveway talking to a neighbour.

"They just lost it," said Cpl. Pierre Lemaitre. "They went absolutely nuts
on the guy. Absolute nonsensical violence. It makes no sense at all."

As the victim, an "average citizen" in his 30s, sought refuge in his home,
one attacker hurled himself through a plate glass window to get in while
another tried to kick in the door.

The three men fled when the victim yelled that he had called 911.

One of the attackers returned, muttering and swearing, as officers
interviewed the shaken victim at his home in the 7000-block 16th Avenue in
Burnaby. The victim recognized him as a neighbour before he ran off.

He "must have seen too many episodes of Cops or something," Lemaitre said,
because he stripped off his shirt. Police found him "shivering" under a bed
in his nearby home.

Police are still searching for the other two assailants. One is
Afro-Canadian, the other a bald Caucasian.

Lemaitre suspects the three assailtants in Tuesday's attack were on drugs.
