Police spokesman Kolinio Vunaki said Operation Sikovalesu would start today with officers working with villagers to uproot marijuana plants. The week-long operation will see all the officers stationed at Tukavesi and about 90 villagers combing the bushes for the illegal marijuana plantations. Mr Vunaki said the operation was a follow up to a previous operation there two months ago. Mr Vunaki said police would co-operate with churches in the district to wean youths off growing and smoking the drug. "There will be a church service every afternoon during the operation." Mr Vunaki has called on the people of Natewa to rally and co-operate with police. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
