THUGS TRACK DOWN ONLINE POT BUYER

Four people are facing charges after a bizarre online pot buy went
awry. Gatineau police said that on Friday they were contacted by a man
who purchased $30 worth of pot over the Internet.

The order was delivered as scheduled to the man's Chamberland St. home
in Gatineau by a delivery man who went by the name "Franc," but when
Franc returned to the man's home the following day demanding $200, the
buyer refused.

"The victim had no plans to pay and wasn't preoccupied with the
situation until the second visit by Franc, who made the same demands
but this time arrived with his gang," said Lieut. Serge Beaudry.

Beaudry said it was at this point that the victim called police and
made arrangements to dial 911 the next time the thugs showed up.

BUSTS AT SCENE

Police arrested three 20-year-old men and one 19-year-old man at the
scene.

They were released from custody but are likely to face break and enter
and extortion charges.

Police couldn't say whether any charges were pending against the
victim.

Gatineau's major crimes bureau is investigating whether the victim
communicated directly with a courier or whether he bought the drugs
through a website.
