CITY SETS P75T FOR DRUG ENFORCEMENT TRAINING

Cebu City government has appropriated P75,000 for the tactical training of
local drug enforcement units which will include a presentation of the
international drug situation.

Councilor Augustus "Jun" Pe, chairman of the Committee on Dangerous Drugs
in the city council, said the training will be done from November 22 to 24
and will be conducted by the US Drug Enforcement Unit headed by special
agent Timothy Teal, reportedly one of the best Drug Enforcement Agency
trainors.

During the three-day training, the presentation will focus on the
international drug situation and lectures on DEA-Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency law enforcement techniques, as well as tactical training.

Pe said the first day of training will be attended by 150 selected
personnel from the Cebu City Police, PNP regional headquarters, PDEA-7,
National Bureau of Investigation as well as judges, fiscals and city and
barangay officials.

The lecture on law enforcement techniques will be attended by selected law
enforcement agents numbering not more than 40, while the tactical training
will be attended by those who joined the lectures the previous day.

The training of our law enforcement personnel is in response to the request
of Cebu City south district Rep. Antonio Cuenco, the vice-chairman of the
House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, from the American government for aid in
the fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs in Cebu.
