The sweeps took place under the direction and authority of the principals of Sandwich Secondary School and St. Thomas of Villanova under the Safe Schools Act. OPP dogs were used to conduct hallway sweeps of lockers and several classrooms were also searched. At Sandwich Secondary School, a small quantity of suspected marijuana was found in a classroom and another small amount was found in a locker. One Sandwich student was suspended under the Safe Schools Act and was cautioned under the Youth Criminal Justice Act for possession of a controlled substance. At St. Thomas of Villanova High School classroom searches resulted in the seizure of a small amount of suspected marijuana from a student's purse and another from a student's backpack. A homemade hashish pipe was also seized from the backpack. Two St. Thomas of Villanova students were cautioned under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and are facing suspension under the Safe Schools Act. - --- MAP posted-by: Derek
