Smith Referenced: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v04.n1671.a07.html THIS IS A WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS Canadians are too quick to collectively sign away our rights to privacy. Public schools should not be allowed to deny access to a locker (that my taxes pay for) to a student or parent who will not sign away their privacy rights. Locker searches are a waste of time and a waste of more of my tax dollars. Intelligent kids would thwart them with subterfuge. I am completely against drugs in school. I am all for the education of our children and better parenting. Parents should not sit and wait for our schools to do their jobs for them. They should openly discuss moral issues with children so that they can make educated decisions. The long-term impacts of teaching children that it is ok to infringe upon their rights to privacy is a terrible loss to the developing understanding of freedom by the future leaders of our society.
