'POT PROBLEM' EXAGGERATED

Editor, The News

B.C. has a pot problem, or so say our quota of rednecks and
authorities, not to mention Dubya's ambassador Paul Celluci with his
veiled threats.

Abbotsford has introduced legislation to protect the community against
reefer madness. It is almost impossible to rent a house on the Coast
without a landlord roaming through your home every month or so.

This whole issue is ludicrous, neighbours are being asked to inform on
neighbours, aluminum foil is being prohibited on windows, friends are
being encouraged to watch overly active hydro meters and report all
suspicious and imaginary activity.

The vast majority of Canadians don't give a damn about pot; this is an
American-led agenda based on their vision of the world. Our
communities would be better served if we got our priorities right.
Under the present structure, a person could sell crack to
nine-year-olds and as long as he kept the house tidy with no foil on
the windows, all would be well with the landlord and the law.
